remember the moment
you fell asleep
on my shoulder
when you woke up
you said sorry
you had forgotten
you dozed off there
and when we got off
you forgot your bag too
you were busy
on your phone
I ran behind you
my tap on your shoulder
might have scared you
but it was only me
with the bag
you had missed
sometimes I think
it was not just the bag
I wanted that whole moment
to be repeated
just for a while
in my imagination
we were already something
daydreaming on a plane
was good
until it landed
everything was in the air
then suddenly
everything became clear
you said thank you
and somehow
we ended up booking
the same taxi
what happened to the app
I still don’t know
same driver
same hotel
your room
right opposite mine
we shared smiles
whenever we passed
in the corridor
then I saw you
at the pool
you looked beautiful
in your swimsuit
I knew
I couldn’t swim
but somehow
I thought
this was the right moment
to impress you
so I went in
almost drowned
became
a top class fool
you laughed
your newly made friends
laughed too
and I laughed
because what else
could I do
after that day
I never saw you again
if you are reading this poem
please know
I still cannot swim
all our meeting
might have been a whim
but sometimes
it still feels good
to remember it all
while eating
a fresh cone
of clotted ice cream
