Who could have imagined
that a day like this would come,
when humans would become
more violent than tigers?
A tiger does not pretend.
We all know
that its calmness
is no proof of friendliness.
But a human being,
no matter how peaceful
or well mannered they appear,
can hide a world inside
that nobody else can see.
Nobody knows
what is stirring in their heart,
what schemes are taking shape
behind their gentle smiles.
Today, the fiercest battles
are not fought
between tigers,
but between human beings.
Our species is more violent
than a tiger.
A tamed tiger may sit quietly
inside a cage,
but a free human
can unleash cruelty
when consumed by rage.
Even those who once watched
National Geographic
now switch to the news
and listen to stories of war,
of riots and unrest.
Because it all matters,
especially to those
who count every penny,
watch the price of fuel,
and struggle to fill their shopping bags.
The cost of living keeps changing,
and every time they reach the checkout,
the receipt tells a different story.
Today, when the shops
of honest, hardworking people
are attacked and destroyed,
those who have never lifted a finger
to build anything themselves
sit behind their screens,
leaving comments,
asking the victims
what they did to deserve it.
A tiger’s hunger
has something to do with flesh.
It makes no bargain with grass.
But humans,
in their endless hunger
for power, hatred and revenge,
have forgotten
what it means to be human.
