I burned myself

to the point that burning

was just an excuse

I turned myself

to the point that turning

became another excuse

I was not far

from the sobriety

of the plainness

of a pint in a glass

a glass

that failed

to make me tipsy

I was not walking straight

I knew the bottle

had got me bad

I was drunk to the point

that my legs didn’t feel

like they belonged to me

they were dancing

for someone

I just happened

to be inside them

and those ladies

sitting quietly

at the corner tables

somehow joined me

one by one

until I was no longer

dancing alone

I felt like a shameless bee

hovering around a garden

full of mature flowers

soon they all lifted me

and threw me

onto the street

I came to my senses

and saw them

transformed into bouncers

I looked back at the bar

nobody looked surprised

I really didn’t know

what I had done
